The estate's 19 hectares occupy some of the best wine-growing slopes of Soave country, from Mount Carniga to below Castelcerino near Verona. Blending naturally into this landscape of hills and vineyards, they are cared for by people who have a passion for this land and a desire for excellency.
The land's character and its reputation for great wines leave no room for compromise: the family's efforts, together with those of expert agronomists and oenologists, is to achieve the highest quality. This is a land of art and immortal passions, a land of sublime poetry.
Here, Dante dedicated some of the most famous tercets of his Divine Comedy to Cangrande della Scala, and when, as a guest at Soave Castle, he gazed upon the sundrenched grapes, he wrote: "Behold the sun's heat, which becometh wine / Joined to the juices that from the vine distils..." (Purgatory.XXV, 77-78).
This is how Balestri Valda's finest wines are created: like an art which becomes a vocation.

SOAVE CLASSICO
This is the true lord of this land. The "Classico" appellation gives it a special quality reserved only for the wines made from grapes harvested and vinified in the Soave and Monteforte d'Alpone areas. The historic zone which gave the wine its name. Legend has it that it was Dante, a guest of the Scaligera family, who first called this land "Soave" (a term meaning sweet, mild, pleasant) and the name was then given to its local wine.

SENGIALTA
This great Soave wine originates from the vineyard Sengialta, and is then refined for six months in 120-hectoliter-capacity Slavonian durmast wood barrels. Its color is bright golden; its bouquet presents scents of almonds and hawthorn. Its flavor is very rich with accentuated mineral hints. It is excellent with savory rice dishes and with grilled fish. top |

SCALIGIO
Its name is in honour of the Scaligera family who governed Verona in the early 1300s. A member of the same family, Cangrande della Scala, gave affectionate shelter to Dante during the poet's long exile. Strength and nobility bind this wine to the history of this land, a worthy symbol of its great traditions. top |

RECIOTO DI SOAVE
This is a very particular dried grape wine, different from any other passito for which grape drying originally represented more a necessity than a choice. Its name derives from the term "rece", which in the dialect of Verona means the "ears", I. E. the upper lobes of the bunch where the grapes are ripest.
